Meet Branice
Branice McKenzie is an internationally acclaimed and award winning composer, vocalist and educator based between Oakland, CA and New York City, NY.
The quote says: “Branice McKenzie sings with a sensitivity, intonation and eloquence that mark her as a fine proponent of jazz in song”. With her four-octave range, this artist has partnered with greats touring the world from Harry Belafonte to Hugh Masekela, from Roberta Flack to Iyanla Vanzant and many more. She has graced the stages of The Newport Jazz Festival to the Umbria Jazz Festival, from Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow to the great Carnegie Hall in New York City. Ms. McKenzie is an award-winning composer, a member of the Vocal Faculty at the stellar Oakland School For The Arts and ministering every Sunday morn as Founding Minister of Music at Heart and Soul Center of Light in Oakland, CA. Most recently, Branice garnered the honor of being nominated by the Bay Area Theatre Awards for Best Music Direction. She is a vocal alchemist and a voice for our time.

My Birth Mother transitioned when I was three. That side of my family are whom I am very close to. I found out as we explored family photographs that my Mother, Eunice, was a photographer. She primarily took photos of family. When I finished undergrad, I went to Brooklyn and decided to take photography lessons...I don't know why, to this day, that popped up in my mind. But now I know because my Birth Mother was also a photographer. Then I dropped my interest for a long while. Then, I went to Tanzania and I almost lost myself in the exquisite beauty of that country and I was, from then on, a photographer again. Fo' Real!! I LOVE it!!
